In Detail

The IPR series of IP Routers are compact, cost effective solutions for LAN IP sharing, remote access, or LAN-to-LAN routing. The IP Router functions allow small offices to incorporate corporate-like features in their networks, yet is simple enough to not require a full-time network administrator.

The IP Router has models that support one(1), two(2) or four(4) WAN ports. The WAN port supports RS-232 Asynchronous connections up to 480Kbps for direct connection to industry standard modems and ISDN Terminal Adapters. The WAN ports may be configured for Internet access, remote dial-in access, or LAN-to-LAN routing over PSTN or leased lines.

Internet Access

In this mode, the IP Router can provide direct Internet access to all users on the LAN using only one modem and one ISP dial-up account. NAT (Network Address Translation) the IPR allows multiple users on your network to simultaneously share each modem or ISDN line that you set for Internet Access. This powerful internet access technology provides a built-in firewall that guarantees network security, while a Net-Device Monitor keeps track of each users on-line activities.

Remote Access

For remote access, the WAN port is configured to allow a dial-in connection to the LAN. The port may be configured to provide dial-up username/password authentication, provide the remote user with an IP address, allow connection and browsing of Microsoft and Novell clients, and may also provide for a "call back" function. Remote access allows "mobile" users to "see" the LAN as if they were directly connected in the office.

LAN to LAN Routing

In this configuration, an IP Router is placed on both separate networks and the WAN ports are connected via dial-up modems over standard phone lines. In this mode, either LAN may dial-up the other to pass data. Disconnection is automatic and the duration of idle time before disconnection is settable. This feature is most useful in providing access and connectivity between central and remote or branch offices.
