In Detail

PacketBand-TDM-4G uses the latest technologies, systems and standards to deliver to the DTE equipment T1 and/or E1 full or fractional “leased lines” over a Packet Network, meaning legacy networks can be moved away from high-price dedicated leased lines to the more cost-effective IP environment.

The PacketBand TDM range delivers point-to-point leased lines across an Ethernet or IP/MPLS network for synchronous devices which require a clock-locked architecture. In many situations the central site has a clock source (PRC) and the remote locations have to recover the clock across the non-clocked Packet Network. In this way both "ends" are synchronised to the same clock source and the E1 and T1 services look and perform the same as traditional leased lines.

The PacketBand TDM-4G has high accuracy clock-recovery and synchronization systems, in addition to excellent jitter handling capabilities and robust recovery systems. The movement of the clock is also very stable, typically achieving movement as low as 20ppb.

Unlike most TDM over IP or CESoIP equipment, the PacketBand TDM-4G uses sophisticated algorithms and software hysteresis programs to manage clocks. This enables the clocks to be tuned very finely and to make an “informed” decision on when and how to change clocks rather than reacting blindly, resulting in accurate and smooth clocks.

A number of configuration options are supported, including the ability to “groom” more than one remote circuit into a single circuit at the HQ or POP site, thereby reducing the number of expensive CPE ports needed on local equipment.

PacketBand-TDM-4G can connect to both DTE and network, providing the ability to “break-out” into a “real” leased line environment, offering potential massive savings on international and other long-distance circuits.
