In Detail

The ET-10A is a high performance remote Ethernet bridge that may be implemented on any Ethernet network allowing LAN traffic to be bridged rather than routed across a WAN link.

Connections are made using an RJ-45 connector for the 10BaseT LAN. To connect to the WAN, a standard 25 way D-type connector is used. By means of switch settings on the bridge and an appropriate converter cable, the bridge can be configured to connect to various WAN interfaces such as X.21, V.35, RS449, RS530 and RS232. This allows the bridge to be connected straight into a digital leased line giving access to the WAN.

The unit features an in built clock generator that allows timing in both 64K and 56K increments up to E1 (2048Kbps) and T1 (1544Kbps) speeds. This clocking flexibility allows the unit to either provide clocking or to accept it. The ET-10A also has support for Asynchronous applications up to 115.2Kbps.

The ET-10A's bridging table will accommodate up to 10,000 entries with automatic ageing after 5 minutes. An internal buffer will accept 256 frames, though with a throughput of 3,000 frames per second this capacity will rarely be required.
