In Detail

The FIB1-E1 allows the extension of 2Mbps G.703 E1 services over fibre optic cabling. The FIB1-E1 has 1 G.703 interface that can be presented as either a pair of BNC connectors or an RJ-45 interface. The fibre optic port can be supplied with either ST or SC connectors and versions are available for both multi and singlemode optics. Various distances are supported, up to 2Km on multimode fibre and 120Km on singlemode fibre. WDM (wave division multiplexing) versions are also available that allow full duplex bi-directional transmission over a single core of singlemode fibre.

The FIB1-E1 may also be located in the FRM301 fibre optic converter chassis. From this chassis 16 converter cards can be located and managed. When the FIB1-E1 is placed within the FRM301 chassis the remote FIB1-E1 can be configured via an out of band management channel contained within the fibre link.
