The FIB1 Family of converters are standalone fiber media converters available in a number of different models that also act as line cards for placement in the FRM301 Platform Media Converter Chassis.

The FIB1-Serial/FDC is an asynchronous fibre optic ring/daisy-chain modem which operates over a fibre link to connect remote terminals and computers, connected in multi-drop to a central host.

The FIB1-Serial/FDC allows for totally redundant, fault tolerant, self-healing operation, providing uninterrupted communications between networks nodes, even if a fibre break occurs in one device in the ring or the chain falls.
