In Detail

The FMC-10/100P is a 10/100Base Ethernet to 100Base-FX fibre media converter with PoE (Power over Ethernet) designed for CPE applications when connected to the FMC-CH08 unmanaged media converter platform, or in standalone point to point applications. This media converter is ideal for customer premises equipment in metro LAN, campus, enterprise and FTTx applications.

The FMC-10/100P is an unmanaged option in the FRM220 range that offers a range of monitoring features such as, LLP (Link Loss Pass-Through), FEF (Far End Fault), Switch mode (store & forward, 1600 Bytes maximum frame size), or Converter mode (100/Full to 100/Full, low latency, 9K Bytes packet support). Additionally, the FMC-10/100P supports auto-negotiation on the copper Ethernet side as well as forced mode.

The FMC-10/100P is easy to configure, offering simple DIP switch settings for control over all settings, including duplex and speed configuration. Utilizing PoE, this converter is capable of drawing power from any PoE enabled Ethernet switch or Midspan device, eliminating the need for any other power source.

The FMC-10/100P is completely transparent to Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols including IEEE 802.1q, VLAN tag, Q in Q, STP, IPX, IP, among others.

The Benefits

  • Power over Ethernet (PoE) eliminates the need for any other power supply. Designed for use in situations where the converter may be located a significant distance from a mains power supply.
  • Support for jumbo packets (up to 9K) increases network speed and efficiency.
  • Link Loss Pass-Through (LLP). A troubleshooting feature that monitors links, disabling flawed connections and 'passing through', minimising network downtime.
  • Far End Fault (FEF) alerts network managers to faults in remote units via the front LCD panel, again minimising network downtime.
