In Detail

The FRM220-10/100I is a 10/100Base Ethernet to 10/100Base-FX fibre converter. The FRM220-10/100I is a slide in line card converter designed for CPE applications when used with the FRM220 managed rack.

With advanced features such as in-band management, this media converter is ideally used for customer premises equipment in metro LAN, campus, enterprise and FTTx applications.

In-band managed, all converter settings, including Bandwidth control, duplex and speed configuration can be controlled and monitored from a centrally located rack. Centralised control is ideal for Carriers and Service Providers as rate limiting will aid in maintaining SLAs and generate new revenue.

The FRM220-10/100I is completely transparent to L2 and L3 protocols including, IEE 802.1q, VLAN tag, Q in Q, STP, IPX and IP among others. This level of transparency increases network efficiency and performance.

The Benefits

  • Far End Fault detection (FEF) enables remote troubleshooting.
  • Link Fault Pass through (LFP).
  • Bandwidth Control (32K or 512Kbps x N). This carrier-class function drives new revenues through the ability to limit the amount of service provision to end users dependent on the level of service subscribed to.
  • Support for 9K jumbo packets in convert mode increases overall network speed and efficiency.
  • Remote CPE power failure detection (Dying Gasp). The Dying Gasp function sends an alert to the central management unit before power failure, minimising network downtime through quick troubleshooting.
  • Fibre Hardware Reset function (FHR) allows for the remote reboot of isolated units.
