In Detail

The FRM220-FXO/FXS is a fibre optic modem used to transport analogue telephony over a fibre infrastructure. Operation is completely transparent, preserving PBX features such as CLI and TBR. The FRM220-FXO/FXS is specifically designed for military use, typically used in the red/black divide for extending dial services in high security environments.

The FRM220-FXO/FXS is ideal in situations where space is at a premium as it is less than half the size of the competition.

The FRM220-FXO/FXS can support multi or single-mode fibre for transmission up to 120km. The very latest WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) optics can also be supported allowing transmission over a single core of single-mode fibre.

Configuration of the unit is simple, a single DIP switch determines exchange or subscriber facing operation. Hotline mode is also supported allowing two extensions to directly connect to each other without the need for a PBX.

In addition to a standalone version, the FRM2-FXOS is also available in slide-in line card format for use in the 20 slot, 19” rack-mountable FRM220 chassis. When used with the FRM220, the converter is in-band managed, allowing local or remote control of all converter settings.
