The FRM301 is a 16 channel media converter chassis. 3U high and 19" rackmountable the FRM301 supports a variety of converter cards including Ethernet to fibre converters operating at all Ethernet speeds (10, 100 & Gigabit) and all fibre formats (multi & singlemode) with distances up to 120Km. Also available are fibre converter cards for G.703, X.21, RS530, RS449, V.35 & RS422 making the FRM301 a truly universal platform for all your converter requirements.

The FRM301 supports optional redundant power and SNMP management. Another unique feature of the FRM301 is line cards which make use of a common PCB card which may either be placed in the rack (FRM301 Series line card) or used as a standalone converter (FIB1 Series). Manufacturing costs are reduced as well as the inventory of spares required by distributors, installers, and end users.

The converter cards are all hotswappable to ensure continuous service should cards need to be inserted or removed. Both multi and single mode converters are available that can drive signals up to 120Km. A range of converter cards are also available with the latest WDM technology that utilises only a single core of fibre for full duplex bi-directional communication. Advanced features are provided within the converter cards such as link loss forwarding, loopback testing and adjustable Ethernet frame lengths to ensure transmission of extended packet lengths for services such as VLAN tagging and QOS traffic.
