In Detail

The FRM401 is a high density Ethernet media converter chassis. The chassis has 12 slots for converters cards. Each converter card has 4 independent converters, making a total of 48 conversions possible should the chassis be fully populated.

The FRM-401 can be powered with AC or DC power cards. Two power supply cards can be located within the chassis to provide full redundancy.

A further slot is available for an optional SNMP card that presents the user with a 10BaseT port for SNMP management and an RS232 port for a more traditional VT-100 style management interface.

The Ethernet converter cards are all hotswappable to ensure continuous service should cards need to be inserted or removed. Both multi and single mode converters are available that can drive signals up to 120Km. A range of converter cards are also available with the latest WDM technology that utilises only a single core of fibre for full duplex bi-directional communication.

Advanced features are provided within the converter cards such as link loss forwarding, loopback testing and adjustable Ethernet frame lengths to ensure transmission of extended packet lengths for services such as VLAN tagging and QOS traffic.
