MileGate - IP-based Multi-Service Access Platform

MileGate is a modern IP-MSAN that can support you in expanding your network so that it is fit for the future. With its extensive multiservice characteristics, MileGate combines carrier grade broadband access, telephony and data interfaces in one single, compact Next-Generation Access platform. MileGate has been developed for the Next-Generation Network (NGN), but it also supports legacy technologies. This feature makes MileGate an advanced IP-MSAN, enabling seamless migration of services and providing them via copper and optical fibre for FTTx applications. MileGate supports TV and telephony services via the Internet protocol (IPTV and VoIP) with different standards and a variety of quality control measures at data and at module level. By using MileGate you can migrate whole or parts of your telecommunications network to the NGN. Expand your range of services to include new, high quality Triple Play and broadband business services, and continue to provide the range of traditional telephony and data services at the same time, without having to rely on two systems. We and our partner KEYMILE define Mission-Critical Systems (MCS) as dedicated network infrastructures that carry critical applications for HV/MV Energy & Distribution Grids, Gas & Oil Pipelines, National/Urban Railways, High-speed Railway Lines, Homeland Security, Public Safety, Air Traffic Management & Control communications.

We and KEYMILE believe that nothing is more important in MCS networks than guaranteeing the highest availability of each connection. With mission-critical data, downtime can mean risk to life and limb. The systems developed and produced by our partner KEYMILE stand apart due to their extreme reliability. From the outset, KEYMILE developers in Germany and Switzerland have placed the highest priority on achieving this goal. Key attributes were confirmed during the developmental phase of the German manufactured systems. These included top availability, maximum service life, ease of operation, straightforward maintenance, a good eco footprint, as well as being thoroughly future-proof in nature.

XMC20 Full Hybrid Multi-Service Access & Transport Platform

The XMC20 operates as a centralized MPLS-TP switch, supporting state-of-the-art Packet-based Transport Networks (PTNs), to achieve the highest reliability in the market today (e.g. sub 50 ms switchover times). Simultaneously, it can operate as a SDH/PDH multiplexer for TDM transport networks achieving hitless switchovers in case of link failures. Having such a broad set of services and different technologies from one network element allows great flexibility in the total engineering of the solution. One single XMC20 platform covers the needs of existing legacy networks, while at the same time providing future-proof equipment capable of evolving towards packet-based transport networks. This reduces the operational costs for customers’ networks and enhances the reliability and the availability of services through reduced network complexity. All services in XMC20 are administered by a central network management system (UNEM), which allows the monitoring of network performance, alarms, and fault management. The network management system is also capable of protection mechanisms that allow full redundancy of the management of the network. This integrated management system brings maximum synergy through managing all the services on one platform. In addition, an easy-to-use local craft terminal (ECST) is available for our customers, which provides offline configuration, enabling commissioning of a network in the office followed by later deployment to the node.

XMC20 COGE5 - Core Unit of the XMC20 Platform

The COGE5 is a core unit for the XMC20 subracks, designed for packet-switched transport and optimized for applications in mission-critical networks. It performs all central functions of the system and data transport for the Ethernet traffic and data synchronization.

XMC22, 23 & 25 Subracks

The XMC22, 23 and 25 subracks of the hybrid Multi-Service platform XMC20 system provide comprehensive Multi-Service features in compact casings. With the XMC20, highly available network nodes are realized to provide data interfaces as well as transport interfaces. This makes the XMC20 ideally fit for mission-critical telecommunication networks in railways/metros, utilities, gas and oil pipeline operators, air traffic management or homeland security. The XMC20 provides extreme reliability, compact designs and unique flexibility. With the full hybrid system architecture, XMC20 integrates Ethernet and traditional services in one single network element. The subracks are the basic elements of the system. They provide 4, 8 or 21 slots for core units, line cards and gateways. By this, it is possible to perfectly adapt the network node to local requirements.

DUA25/DUA23 – Dual Power Input Modules

The DUA2x provides the ultimate power protection upgrade for XMC20 and UMUX installations. The DUA2x keeps your equipment up and running by minimising the downtime caused by power outages and preventing damage to your equipment due to power surges and spikes. The DUA2x acts as a dual input power decoupler that selects between two independent VDC power feeds and delivers them directly to the sub-rack’s power input. Thus, the DUA2x ensures uninterrupted service delivery since the power feed change over is instantaneous and thus transparent to your subrack. The selection of DUA25 or DUA23 is based on the type of subrack you wish to deploy.

XMP1 Modular Multi-Service Access System

The XMP1 is a modular, flexible and highly integrated Multi-Service Access System within a single network element, that switches signals on 8/64 kbps level for PDH and VC-12, VC-3 and VC-4 level for SDH. The transmission rates are from 8 kbps up to 34 Mbps for PDH up to STM-1 and STM-4 for SDH. XMP1 is a non-blocking cross-connect system configurable as a terminal or add/drop multiplexer that enables you to set up complex communication and data networks adapted to your bespoke requirements. The capacity of the digital switching matrix is 16 x 2 Mbps: 480 timeslots using CAS-Signaling, or 496 using 31 channels. The cross-connect of each individual 64k signal inclusive associated signaling information (2 kbps) is freely configurable. These signals can be terminated on service interfaces and combined with other 2 Mbps signals (E1) for interworking with a transport network or as connection inside pure XMP1 networks.

The UMUX Multi-Service Access System

The UMUX family is a Next-Generation Multi-Service Access System that is deployed by public and private network operators worldwide in over 100 countries. Providing a variety of applications it offers extensive multi-service capabilities, ranging from traditional data services to VoIP media gateway functions. UMUX offers V5.x and VoIP media gateway functions and therefore supports seamless migration from traditional voice services to VoIP.

Several tens of thousands of network elements are active in telecommunication networks with railways, energy suppliers, at airports, alongside of pipelines and with telecommunication service providers. Since its introduction, UMUX is in a constant process of new feature development and is adapted to our customers’ requirements continuously. UMUX is a robust system that is perfect for outdoor applications. It covers numerous applications, from data and Ethernet services to VoIP Media Gateway functionality.
