In this 'viewpoint' we take a brief look at the recent release of the FRM220-CH08, a 1U high 19" Rackmount, 8 slot modular converter chassis. Now you may wonder why we're so excited about this product? Well there are many reasons. Firstly it's a complimentary addition to the FRM220 Family which provides the most extensive range of Fibre Optic Modems, Converters and Line Drivers that can be housed and managed in a single chassis, successfully providing transmission across fibre networks for Governments, Defence, Enterprises and Carriers all around the globe.
This new 8-slot chassis provides a compact, economic solution for access to fibre networks. Designed with high availability in mind. All backplane components are passive. While remaining functions, power, management and interface cards are all modular and hot swappable. The FRM220-CH08 has support for dual AC or DC power supplies and the chassis has external alarm replay contacts as standard. Powerful SNMP and Web based management can be provisioned by installing the Network Management Card. Any of the FRM220's diverse range of fibre converter cards can be installed in the chassis. These cards range from 10G Ethernet, SDH/PDH interfaces, C/DWDM Mux and transponders down to POTS and ISDN fibre line drivers.
