FRM220-NMC Network Management Controller
The FRM220-NMC is a Network Management Controller card that can be placed in a compatible FRM220 series chassis to provide network management functions. The management interface supports a local RS-232 serial console or remote TCP/IP management by Telnet, HTTP or SNMP protocols. The card is designed to be hot swapped so that it may be field replaced without affecting any online service of any other rack cards. The card also supports online firmware upgrade from TFTP server, using any user interface. Support for any standard NMS is provided by the included proprietary MIB file.
The FRM220-NMC enables remote configuration and monitoring of the chassis and the line cards installed. The NMC card also allows configuration and monitoring of the remote converter cards that support in-band management. The FRM220-NMC card is 'hot swapable' with no loss of service to other installed converter cards. The NMC card supports TFTP firmware upgrades to local and remote converters. NTP support is provided to enable accurate time stamping of events. The FRM220-NMC card supports SNMP operation allowing FRM220 converters to be integrated into a larger management system such as HP Openview, Solarwinds, Castlerock, Etc.
A standard web browser can be used to manage the FRM220 system. The browser displays a simple 'point and click' environment to facilitate configuration. The health of all cards can be viewed and a log file maintains a history of events.
The system can also be managed locally via an RS232 VT-100 session. A text based menu system is used for configuration.
